Tomnaverie Recumbent Stone Circle

Near Tarland

Tomnaverie Stone Circle has experienced a chequered existence and, early in the 20th century, was in danger of becoming engulfed in a nearby quarry. It was taken into State care in 1920 and during excavation and renovation work in 2000 a number of displaced stones were replaced in their sockets. A small car-park allows convenient access from the nearby roadside.
